2012... the end of days?

Nope, just another year, all that other stuff is bologna pudding in my opinion, also science & logical thinking help.

Basically I just wanted to post something since it's a new year... second month & all, & my birthday, on Valentines day... meh.

August 9th, 2010, around 4am...

A recent car accident, recent as in tonight, about 2 hours ago, reminded my of another accident happend in the same spot, over a year ago, August 9th, 2010, at around 4:00 am. This current accident was simply a pizza delivery guy sliding into a parked car.

Tame.

Via Twitter:
Well, Was just woken up to the sound of crunching metal a few moments ago, Seems there was a high speed chase going by my house...
1 of the pursuers, Sheriff's car I think slammed into a parked minivan sending it across a road and the sheriff facing the other way...

Sheriff seemed ok as he was walking around shortly after, lots of cop cars. What the hell was that about? & what a thing to get woken up to!

As it turned out, it was a cross-state high pursuit chase, the car that had caused the accident was actually a state patrol car, not sheriff. Apparently they were after a stolen car, & supposedly they never caught them, at least not then. There was only a little blurb in the news paper, (so small I cannot find it now), about how it was a high speed pursuit that started in Wisconsin & made it all the way over to Minnesota (by where I live), that a state trooper scraped a parked car, they had been after the stolen car, didn't catch them, & so on.

So to fully describe it, as the memory is still very vivid in my mind well over a year later, & my half asleep mind could not process it yet. It was August, warm out, so I was sleeping with the windows open, shades up, it was nice, peaceful... till that early morning that is.

You know that feeling when you are asleep, & you sorta know you have to pee, but you're really not fully aware of it because you are asleep? That subconscious awareness, lurking between dreams, that was pretty much how this started. I could hear sirens blaring, yet it wasn't registering with me, it was distant, not in just literally, but in thought. However, it was getting louder, like a crescendo slowly pulling me awake, this music building like a dramatic moment in an action movie, & just when it was about to wake me, BOOM, the bomb exploded. In this case, a crash, tires screeching, crunching metal, accented by the sirens. I bolt upright in my bed, confused, but instictavly look out the window just in time to see a neighbor's minivan back up onto the side walk & into the railing, mind you it was parked on the other side of the street. The state trooper had hit one car, knocking the bumper off, then into the van, knocking it to the other side, the trooper was now about 100 feet away in the intersection facing the way he came, smoke coming from the engine, filling the cabin of his car. Other pursuers made there way around him & continued the chase,  while a couple others stayed behind. A moment later the trooper was walking around looking okay from what I could see by the street lamp's light. He was inspecting the damage with other law enforcers when more sirens started blaring, this time the fire department, a small fleet of them came to scene. Then the owner was out in pajamas to see that his van was not where he left it.

Around this time, though I wanted to watch more from my window, this was a work day, & I still had a few hours to go, so I closed the windows, closed the shades, went back to bed, & somehow managed to fall asleep again despite the startling way I was woken up, however, I was understandably a bit tired the next day.

It was such a vivid experience, to be jolted awake by such chaos, it burned that memory deep into my brain. I still feel bad for the pizza delivery guy, the weather was shitty, icy in spots, I think the parked car was on the wrong side of the street, but at least it looked like both cars could drive away. I can't say that about this other accident, these cars were totaled in every sense of the word, the neighbor got a new van out of it & needless to say I never see them park it on that street anymore.

Nightmare on Pillsbury Avenue! (A short story.)

It was eerily dark as the misty vale of twilight fell upon the dwelling. A young couple sat alone, the two of them watching television, enjoying their sitcoms and dramas that stream into their dim living room. Suddenly there was a commotion, a clang rang out that broke their glassy stare away from the television. After a prolonged look at the kitchen door from whence the noise had emanated, they started to return gaze back to their entertainment, unsure of what they heard, feeling it was nothing, but just as there heads started pivot, they once again heard a noise. This time it a scurrying, scratching noise along the wall. The couple looked at each other, knowing that this now cannot be ignored, as they owned no pets, and as mentioned, they were alone in this house. The man stood up and turned towards the kitchen.

"Maybe a pot or a glass shifted in the dish rack?" he lied to himself.

"It better not be mice or rats..." the woman half mumbled under her breath as the man crossed the threshold into the kitchen. There was a long pause. The woman broke the silence with annoyance in her voice as she questioned whether the man had discovered the source of the noises. There was was no response, followed by another pause which was finally ended as the man stepped back through the kitchen door. Something was clearly wrong, his face was pale, gaunt, and clammy, his eyes filled with fear, his lower lip trembled. It was as if it was taking all of his will to remain standing.

A hard dryness clasped deep into his throat as he forced the words out with a stutter; "Well... it's not rats, that's not we have problem with, it's... it's a... a d-doughboy." The woman rose up and gasped as her face shifted from annoyance to absolute terror. Panic washed over the both of them like a wave of scolding hot butter. They locked eyes, when the hairs on the back of their necks stood up as they heard it, the unmistakable subtle giggle, a tee-hee of sorts, followed by a unearthly bloodcurdling hiss that no mortal beast could ever dream to produce. The creature scurried across kitchen walls once more which ended with a dull thump that told them that it had landed on the floor. Again, something was knocked over, this time it was a chair. Panic stricken they were locked into place like granite statues, unable to move.

"I don't want to die, but what on earth are we going to do?!" the woman proclaimed with tears welling in her eyes.

The man, with tears welling in his eyes as well, replied as his voice broke; "Preheat the oven to 450° and pray to God."

No one knows what happened to the couple, especially since they didn't know their names, or where they lived, but some say it was 8 to 12 minutes of unimaginable horrors until a light golden brown hope shined though. Others say the doughboy ate them, but this is widely disregarded by science as the size to wight ratio would make it impossible for the doughboy to eat a fully grown human, let alone two, but he did likely murder them and burred the bodies. This is widely documented in multiple science journals and the magazine Better Homes and Gardens.

Fall: the dying season...

Yeah yeah, I know, if I don't like it here I should just move. Unfortunately where would like to move I could not afford, so… we're not just going to go there, okay. I'm old enough now that I am granted those complaining rights, shut your face.

Any who, this is the season where everything starts to get colder, and yes those leaves are very pretty, for time, but soon the the color fades, and they die, they fall off. That's why they call it fall, temperatures falling, leaves falling, essentially the sun is falling lower in the sky everyday. The color drains and everything turns into gray's and browns, leading to that atrocious four letter word that covers all the land in frozen whiteness. S-N-O-W.

Snow used to be our friend, when we were children, it was there to get us out of school, making playing outside tons of fun, being able to build forts throw snow balls, being able to dive around the ground and not get hurt thanks to all the fluffy snow, we had so much fun, but alas it was not to last.

Nope, we had to grow up, unfortunately snow did not. Snow used to get us out of school, but now it makes the drive to work a nightmare, breaking our backs trying to shovel the walk, or clear out the driveway. You really need to have two pairs of shoes, work shoes, and then your boots just to get around outside. You have to make sure you stay warm, plenty of layers now,  or you may get cold, & possibly wet, thanks to that snow thing. It's a real pain in the ass.

So basically fall is just a foreshadowing to my most hated season, such a damn downer, but I suppose I should look for the silver lining wherever the hell it might be, however small and minuscule it may be. Let's break it down shall we? What is good about winter? Knee-jerk reaction is: "nothing!", but again I will look for those nuggets. I suppose I do sleep a lot better when it is cold, having to generate my own heat & such, makes me sleep more soundly, that is a good thing I suppose. Less bugs is always a good thing. Some places have a better view without all those leaves obscuring the scenery. Clear, sharper nights due to the cold air, so the stars and moon look pretty cool I suppose.

That's really about it, I seriously can't think of anything else, nothing at all really… yeah, end of line.

I can't help it, I'll always miss summer when it's not around. The sounds; crickets chirping, thunder carried on a warm breeze. The warm temperatures; being able to walk outside without having to put a jacket on, even at night! Being able to have the window in my room/office open, or when driving around!  Summer is just great, I can't help it, I just love it.

I suppose in closing, there is one other thing that is good about winter, at least around here where I live. It's that snow is pretty much the worst thing that happens around here. We're lucky in the sense that we don't have a lot of other natural disasters happen around here, so I suppose that's one less thing worry about.

Bah humbug you som'bitches.

Looking back at...

...some of my favorite shows from a couple of years ago, I'd have to add Fringe, The Walking Dead, & Game of Thrones into the top 10 best. Damn good shows.
